Pudong Grade 5: Create my Country

In 5th Grade S+ Geography class, the students partnered up and created their own countries as an in-class project. Since we are studying Europe, the country had to be European-style. The students needed to create a flag for their country as well as come up with the festivals and traditions that their country’s citizens participate in. They were tasked with developing a language and to give some examples of food and drinks that were native to their made-up country. Each pair also drew a map of their fictional country and wrote why their country was created. This project was not only a great way for our students to incorporate the knowledge gained from their Geography classes, but to have fun as well!
