Grade 8: Book Donation
Grade 8: Book Donation
I am Peter Zhu, one of SHSID’s 8th grade students and author of ‘Dumbo and Carl’. Over the past few weeks, I have held some book-signing events in the 5-8th grade building and the 1-4th grade building. We told everyone that they can choose to bring some books they don’t need and donate them to us. If they do, they will get a prize and we will donate the books to children in need.
On Friday, May 18th, Ms. Yan, Hanson 8(7) , Eric 8(1) and I went to Zhongtang Primary school, where the students are kids of migrant workers. The school is located in Shangyu, which is a small town in Zhejiang. My parents were born there. We had a donation ceremony and interacted with the students there. They were all very nice and friendly and asked a lot of questions. All in all, it was an amazing experience. My friends and I learned that these kids have a shortage of extracurricular books, so we are happy that they now have more books to absorb knowledge from.
