Puxi Grade 5: Writing a Poem for Mom

At the beginning of May, teachers from the 5th grade Native-Chinese group began their ‘Writing a Poem for Mom’ activity in class, to prepare for the coming Mother’s Day.

First of all, the teachers showed the students some popular articles about the appreciating the mothers of well-known people, such as ‘Reminiscing About Mothers’, and ‘Sending a Paper Ship to Mother’. This encouraged the children to express their gratitude to their mothers in Chinese. It could be though an essay, or a small poem. The children’s enthusiasm was high, and soon they showed works full of passionate and genuine expression.

Gratitude is a topic often mentioned in SHSID’s Chinese classes, and the theme of this Mother's Day activity fitted that well. The teachers hope that their students will be able to learn, feel and spread love through the influence of this class!
