Pudong Campus: Science Fair: a Grand Feast of Brainstorming
Pudong Campus: Science Fair: a Grand Feast of Brainstorming
As one of the most popular activities of SHSID, the Science Fair always brings a surprises and fun to our teachers and students. After students’ deliberate preparation and teachers’ patient instruction, the festivities finally came once more.
At 1:15pm on May 8th, all the students of SHSID’s Pudong campus started to prepare everything they needed for the Science Fair. In order to give enough space to the guests, which included teachers, students from other homerooms and parent judges, the students moved their tables and chairs to the walls of their classrooms. After that, they gradually unfolded their poster boards and got everything ready, waiting for the guests’ arrival.
With great curiosity and delight, the students stepped into different homerooms. The little hosts exhibited and explained their interesting science experiments enthusiastically in return.
They helped to answer questions like:
·“Which type of material will absorb fragrance and retain it the most?”
·“Will eating candies influence student’s concentration during class time?”
And explain tasks like:
·Frictional force experiments
·Maglev train experiments
·Making a lemon battery
From hypothesis to experiment, then to the conclusion, all the students displayed and explained their work patiently, step by step. In the process, not only did students learn new things, but also they learned how to apply what they’ve learned in real life, which is of vital importance. Everyone present at the Pudong campus enjoyed the mental journey they undertook during this wonderful afternoon.
