Pudong Grade 2: MEASURE-THON!

For the last two weeks of Math class, the Grade two students of Pudong campus have been learning a lot about measurement. They started by learning how to measure length, height, width. Then they learnt how to calculate perimeter and area. The kids were not satisfied by only learning how to measure the flat shapes, so after that, we learnt how to measure weight, capacity, volume as well.

You may suspect that these Math classes doesn’t sound interesting enough for kids. Don’t worry, the teachers had already prepared a very special activity for the kids: the MEASURE-THON! In this marathon, the students need to use their minds and thoughts to run. They were expected to think outside of the box and find some special tools and units to measure items. Therefore, we saw that peanuts had been used to measure the capacity of a cup, paper clips had been used to measure the length of a water gun, among many other weird but interesting ways to measure. In the MEASURE-THON, all the students with unique ideas were winners!
