Puxi Grade 3: The Show of Chinese Historical Figures

The sun by day, the moon by night, the Milky Way with stars so bright.

So goes the old rhyme. The river of time has carried away countless heroes. Even for now we can still remember their names, talk about their stories. On April 28th native Chinese class, puxi grade 3 students acted as their favorite historical figure being little celebrities.

Before Chinese culture week, all the Native Level Chinese speakers of Grade 3 chose their own favorite Chinese historical figures. They were asked to dress up like that person and also to use Keynote or Comic Life Book on iPad to make a brief introduction to that person. The most important thing was that they should behave like their chosen historical figure throughout the whole day.

We saw the leader Liang Zhuge, holding a feather fan and a scarf of black silk ribbon. We saw Li Bai, being vigorous and unrestrained. We saw the politician Lin Xiangru, speaking with great eloquence and wisdom. We saw one of China’s ‘Four Beauties’, Diao Chan, the brave woman-warrior Mu Lan, and the talented writer Li Qingzhao. Every boy and every girl was very familiar with their chosen character and reflected their features completely.

This Chinese historical figures show not only brought students the simple joy of wearing ancient clothing, but gave them a fun way to learn about history, so that they can experience the ‘colors’ of Chinese culture.
