Grades 11-12：Visit to the Tara Expedition Ship

On April 27th, the students of SHSID paid an enthusiastic visit to the Tara expedition ship, a French marine vessel designed for trips around the world to collect data on marine conditions. Its purpose is to aid the studies of marine biologists and preserve coral reefs globally, which are under grave risk due to global warming.

Upon arrival, two French crew members guided students around the ship. They told the students the duties of the vessel and showed them the laboratory, the storage rooms, and the living areas of the crew.

Seeing the compacted and warm atmosphere within the living room and the beautifully assembled machines and laboratory, students all gasped in awe and appreciation. Here, students saw the real living-conditions of scientists on expeditions for the first time.
