Pudong Grade 1: Painting A Chinese Blue and White Porcelain

In order to raise our students’ awareness of traditional Chinese culture and handicraft, on April 24th, the Grade 1 students of SHSID’s Pudong campus enjoyed the experience of making a pretend piece of blue and white porcelain. During the Personal Growth class that day, they learnt the cultural background of how and why the porcelain was made. They were amazed by how delicate the porcelain could be, despite being made by such a rough technique. After that, they appreciated how the porcelain pattern has been applied in the modern life, and they could not wait to try by themselves. See! Students were using all shades of blue to decorate their own paper porcelain. Immature their touch might be, but they spared no efforts in learning and practicing this piece of traditional culture. What a lovely project.
