Puxi Grade 1 : Making Makeup!

Week 10 is the week of Chinese Culture in SHSID’s Primary Section. On April 24th , the Puxi Campus first graders experienced a special activity, making traditional Chinese facial makeup in Art class.

At the beginning of the class, the first graders learned some the basics of making facial makeup, and the different meanings of different colors.

Then, the first graders started to create their own facial makeup. Some students chose black as the main color to represent their upright character. Some students chose red as the main color to represent their honesty. Some students chose to draw some special symbols and designs on the mask to show off their unique imaginations.

As a part of China’s cultural heritage, facial makeup is very important in Chinese culture. The aim of having our students learn how to make facial makeup during Chinese Culture Week is to give them a chance to make their own hand crafted creations, and enjoy learning about Chinese traditions.
