Computing Department: Discussion on Textbooks

On the morning of April 20th, the Computer Teaching & Research Group held a meeting to further discuss the preparation of school-based textbooks. With the rise of project-based learning (PBL) and the STEAM education concept, the teaching methods of computer science in our school are gradually changing, shifting from traditional teaching methods to student-led teaching.

Our teachers will continue to inspire their students to think independently, and allow them to pursue knowledge by themselves. In the classroom, the teachers will try to actively guide their students to carry out activities and projects to enhance their interest in learning.

This transformation the department’s teaching method will inevitably require teachers to revise and compile their textbooks. At the meeting, the teachers discussed their plans for creating new school-based textbooks. The meeting focused on the ninth-grade school-based textbook ‘Interactive Media’ and the sixth grade’s ‘Computer Hardware Foundation’. The ninth-grade Interactive Media textbook introduces the basics of computing knowledge and skills through clues such as images, audio, and video. The sixth-grade ‘Computer Hardware Basics’ textbook is based on project-based learning methods, which guide students to learn computers’ hardware composition through projects.

Thanks to this department the Computing department staff now have a clearer idea of how to implement the changes that lie ahead.
