Grade 6 Computer Class: Learning Computer Hardware Knowledge Based on Project Learning

This semester, the Grade 6 Computing class will adopt the project-based learning method to help its students better learn about computer hardware. Unlike previous teaching methods, the students are divided into groups. In each group, they will take on different responsibilities according to the teaching content of the class. They need to discuss, collect information, make and present Powerpoints, make computer models, and make assessments.

For example, the Mid-Term project this semester was for each team to make a computer mainboard. The students gathered information under the guidance of their teachers and tried to understand the functions and components of the computer mainboard. They made a Powerpoint, and used hard board paper and colored paper to make a mainboard model. Then each team gave a presentation and showed the model to the classroom. They gave grades to each other, asked questions, and finally decided with their teacher to determine the score for each group. Compared with previous teaching models, students in the project-based learning class discussed more, cooperated more, participated more, and gained more.
