Puxi Grade 5: Advertisement in Class
Puxi Grade 5: Advertisement in Class
Recently in Chinese class, we read an article called ‘Water Vendors in Syria’. In the article, the vendors used all kinds of wondrous methods to promote fresh fruit juice. To follow on from this, Ms Winter asked everyone to design their own advertisement and present it.
When I was thinking hard about what kind of product to advertise, suddenly I saw a bag of sunflower seeds. An idea struck me like a lighting bolt. I remembered that last summer I went to Germany and bought a soldier-shaped nutcracker. At that time I was still wondering about why it was called ‘nutcracker’. But now, I knew, and though using it to open sunflower seeds would be rather magnificent. So I decided to use this idea. It should be able to win some votes for me, I thought.
During the advertisement day, I brought a bag of sunflower seeds and my nutcracker to school. I sat there and recited my speech in my head multiple times. When it was my turn, I decided to act as two characters, one as a salesman and the other as a boy who can’t eat sunflower seeds. I ran back and forth on the stage, and at last, I successfully cracked a sunflower seed using my nutcracker. The sound of applause filled the room and I got 19 votes, the highest score!
From this competition, I realized the importance of creativity, which is how I won. This was definitely an interesting, exciting and creative competition.
