Country Show: Rich UAE

The Cultural Bazaar is always something that SHSID students really look forward to, and this time we will have a special Cultural Bazaar where we combine it together with the Charity Fair. Although this means less activity within a semester, it means double fun for us in a short period of time. In the meantime, as much as we will have fun during the Cultural Bazaar, each class still have a lot of work to do ahead of time for their own chosen country. Hence the intense preparation which has now begun in all of the classes. 7(2) started their preparation earlier than most of the other classes. Having the UAE as our assigned country, our most important job was to present the best possible image of the UAE to the other students and introduce them to its diverse culture and traditions.

Therefore our first step was to effectively assign jobs to different sections: food, decoration, and activities. Each group proposed their plans and prepared posters, supplies, and materials according to their needs. This stage of planning involves a lot of homework.

Finally, we came together as a class during one CAS period to work on our models of the Khalifa tower and the Burj Al Arab. After we had our end products, some of our students stayed after school to help our teacher with setting up the actual booth in the lobby. We also took turns during break time to look after the booth to protect it from being damaged.

As a result of our hard work, the reflections and reactions that we received from the audience and the crowd turned out to be mostly positive. After all the hard work we were able to appreciate work of other classes even better now that we know how hard they must have worked to present a final product. However, despite the effort that we've put in so far, the highlight still doesn't come until later when we have our actual Cultural Bazaar where we try to raise as much money as we can to compensate since we do not have the Charity Fair anymore. Therefore even if our class is done with the booth decorations, we along with all the other classes still are looking forward to the later events.
