Another Harvest Season

SHSID, an International school, enrolls international students, including overseas students and students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. It sticks to the educational philosophy and practice committed to “Cultivating Talents”. Based on the high selection of courses, every student is provided with a large variety of platforms for their personal and lifelong development. The principles of taking man as foundation and advancing with the times are fully implemented and brilliant achievements have been made.

As the graduating time is approaching, the school takes this opportunity to share the happiness and next destinations of the Class of 2018.

As of March 31, 2018, 234 SHSIDers from the Class of 2018 are on the way to accomplish their four years of high school study. Their efforts have been recognized by universities and colleges worldwide.

Great news came from the U.K. Several graduates were admitted into the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. Additionally, Imperial College London, University of College London (UCL), and others sent offers in late 2017. Central Saint Martins, a leading institute for arts and design education, also appreciated our graduate’s effort. For those with a passion for hospitality, we saw students admitted by Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, the world’s best hospitality school, and other institutions.

This year, there are 129 students choosing to study in the U.S., accounting for 55% of the whole class. For American colleges, we saw offers from University of Chicago, Dartmouth College, Yale University, Duke University, Brown University, Northwestern University, Vanderbilt University, University of Notre Dame, Washington University in St. Louis, Georgetown University, Emory University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California - Berkeley, University of Southern California, University of California - Los Angeles, University of Virginia, Wake Forest University, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, Tufts University, New York University, Boston College, College of William & Mary, Brandeis University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Rochester, Boston University, etc. For Liberal Arts colleges, our students were accepted by institutions such as Williams College, Wellesley College, Pomona College, and so on. Our students who are talented in fine arts and music were admitted by Rhode Island School of Design, Berklee College of Music, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and many other excellent schools.

Top Canadian institutions, including McGill University, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, Queen’s University, and McMaster University, also sent offers to those who chose to study in Canada. Starting from the University of Sydney, students were provided with opportunities for further study in Australia, along with NYU Abu Dhabi in the Middle East with full scholarship. Universities in Hong Kong, like the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the like, enrolled our students for the Class of 2022. Some students are still working on their applications to institutions in other countries and regions, such as Australia, Japan, and Korea, but so far we have already received great news from the University of Tokyo in Japan, KAIST in Korea, Yale-NUS College in Singapore, etc.

A small number of students chose to further their study in mainland China, and as expected offers from Tsinghua University, Peking University, and other institutions have came in one after another.

More information about the College Acceptance Results will be shared in the form of lectures in the coming months, so please keep yourself posted. The above information is a snapshot of this year's acceptance results, and no official updates will be provided later.

The Class of 2018 carry the spirit of SHSID, and it is hoped that they will continue to develop their personal interests and love of learning. Additionally, at SHSID we have encouraged them to become global citizens with strong Chinese values. With this in mind, we know that they will stride ahead with confidence and pride into their next journey. We wish the Class of 2018 good luck in the upcoming IBDP, AP and A-Level exams, and all the very best!
