Improving Cohesion Between 5th and 6th Grade Chinese Teaching

The Grade 5 Native Level Chinese students possessed solid Mandarin skills. In order to get them prepared for further Chinese study in High School, we put extra focus on their comprehensive language application skills. Thus, the texts we have chosen for this semester are more specifically targeted, and the essay topics are more diverse. The pre-class speeches- which are one of our students’ favorite challenges, will deal with themes much closer to their everyday lives. Our students are keen on sharing their experiences and feelings, even though they’ve only got very few minutes to do so. In addition to everyday classes, teachers of both campuses will cooperate and try all kinds of ways to ignite their students’ passion for Chinese study. Currently, students are showing great interest in the upcoming ‘Voice of SHSID’ competition and signing up enthusiastically.
