Culture Week Series Activity: Book Signing

Many teenagers like me have many different ideas and different imaginations. Dragons, robots, futuristic wars, funny moments from your life…it’s all in there. Have your ever tried to write down your thoughts? Peter Zhu from Class 8(1) managed to do it. He published his new book “Dumbo and Carl 2”. On March the thirtieth, he held a book signing activity.

This activity happened in three different steps: advertising, preparation, and activity. The advertising was done during lunch time one week before the actual activity. We would go from a class to class and introduce our topics. We carried out other advertisements by putting up posters in different sections of the building that could be easily seen. For example, at the staircase and the front door.

Preparation was not an easy task either. We had to carry heavy bags of books to sign in school, bags of candy for the activity, and also set up the place for the book signing to happen. Considering that the books would be taken very quickly, Peter also had to prepare signed books at home in case the line became too crowded.

The activity, as I have said, was held on March 30th. Peter gave out free copies of his new book and signed them for his fans. If you donated a book on that day, Peter would donate another book, and Mr. Ni would also donate books, tripling the amount of books donated! The books would later be sent to places that need more books.

Do you know that this is not the first book that Peter wrote? I think many of you already noticed that the book published is named “Dumbo and Carl 2”, meaning it’s the second book published. You might want to read both of these interesting books!
