Understanding the Interaction of Behavior and Cognition Within the Classroom

On Monday, March 26th, all the Primary School teachers were fortunate enough to have AP Psychology teacher, Matt Pardy, discuss the interaction of behavior and learning with us.

He challenged us to think critically about what a child is trying to communicate through his or her behavior. He pointed out that as teachers, we control both the expectations and the environment within our classrooms. That means we need to make sure firstly that our expectations are being clearly communicated, and secondly that we are using our space as a tool.

Both the Chinese and foreign teachers present found Mr Pardy’s presentation very useful, and hope to apply what we have learned in the classroom.
