Cultural Bazaar: Being Italy

There are many new programs at the cultural bazaar this year, like the Country Show. From March 26th to the 27th you can enjoy a wonderful display of Italy, provided by Class 7(3). Here is an interview with one display participant, Andrew, who designed the Caesar storyboard and performed its story during lunch time.

Reporter:What do you think was the most impressive part in the preparation for this Italy display? We know a lot of work must have gone down behind such a good display.

Andrew:Preparing for the cultural bazaar was most interesting. We would come up with many creative ideas and share them with our group members, asking for their thoughts on it. If we all agreed that it was a good idea, then we would use it. Brainstorming was very fun and brought out the vivid imaginations in all of us. Next, we would find ways to make this idea come true, like having Cleopatra and Caesar introduce our country’s history. Sometimes we would get lost in the fun of preparing and forget that it was considered work. When we were missing some props to complete our project, the generous students in our class would volunteer to donate their things for our use. ‘Working in harmony’ is how I would describe the mood of our class when we were preparing.”

Reporter:We know that there was a very long line in the lobby. How would you comment on the display, from your own point of view?

Andrew:Oh, the display. The moment we had all been waiting for, the moment we’ve all been working so hard for…now is the time. Our beautiful display portrayed Italy’s most famous destinations, historical events, food, and much more. The drooling students were dying to get pieces of the tiramisu and pizza we prepared. The sweet aroma they produced lured more and more people to our stand. Many gorgeous Greek and Roman statues stood on the table, showing different expressions and poses. Pictures of the Leaning tower of Pisa, the Venetian canals and the Coliseum stood with pride on the stand. Italian race cars, books, and soccer cards were all shown there, with unique placement that fitted each item best. The Italian flag was everywhere, flying high in the air, showing patriotism as it showed its country’s colors to the school.

Reporter:Wow, can’t wait to go to your booth on April 9th. See you then!
