Grades 11-12:Staff meeting about filial piety education

On Monday afternoon, all of the teachers of 11th and 12nd grades had a special staff meeting in the Xianmian Building. Both local and foreign teachers participated in this meeting to talk about some activity plans themed around filial piety.

At the beginning, the director Ms. Liu gave an introduction, and invited six teachers to share their ideas. Mr. Max Slonim discussed his teaching process during English class, including how to warm up with image analysis, how to hold discussions, and how to help the students craft creative products. Then Mr. Jonathan Roberts talked using songs in class such as Parents Just Don’t Understand from ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ to examine parent-child communication. Mr. Zhang Dongsheng shared his plans for homeroom education in the lead-up to several festivals such as the Labor Day and Mother’s Day. Mr. Adam Nikolich proposed that the students write reflective pieces on their families, and Ms. Wang Qian suggested a special video for Thanksgiving Day, while Mr. Stephen Pijanowski described a suggested family tree activity. All of the proposals provided excellent ideas about how to arouse our students’ filial piety.

At the end of the meeting, Director Liu also further explained the schedule for the coming months.
