Pudong division: Rich and colorful Celebrate Reading Week!
Pudong division: Rich and colorful Celebrate Reading Week!
This past week marked SHSID Pudong Division’s Celebrate Reading Week. From March 12th to the16th, students and teachers participated in rich and varied activities at the Pudong campus. Of these colorful activities, some were related to books written by Dr. Seuss, who is one of the most well-known children’s authors and educators. Selling over 250,000,000 copies worldwide, Dr. Seuss’s 48 picture books have become very popular household literary works for early education. Dr. Seuss brings joy and spiritual enjoyment to children all around the world, becoming an important accompaniment to children’s growth.
Over the course of this special week, students and teachers dressed up differently every day based on Dr. Seuss’ books or other literary works that they enjoy. This was a week that allowed students to show their individual characters; this was also a week that represented the school’s multicultural atmosphere. The entire faculty and all of the students at SHSID Pudong Division enchased their personal character into clothing. They had a rare opportunity to show their true inner self to others. This was also a great ice-breaking event for the school, as teachers and students who were not well-acquainted previously, got a chance to interact and share their favorite characters with one another. More timid and shy students also demonstrated their confidence by displaying their own personal styles.
Monday was Crazy Hat/Hair Day, which was in memory of Dr. Seuss’s great work, The Cat in the Hat. On that day, Students showed up to school in their incredible hats and creative hair styles, attracting everyone’s attention. Tuesday was Favorite Character Day, where everyone on campus dressed up like his/her favorite character from a book. On Wednesday, Pajama Day, instead of being sleepy, students in pajamas actually seemed more energetic than ever! Thursday was Wacky Sock Day, where students arriving on campus, could not wait to show off the interesting, funny, and gorgeous novelties on their feet! On Friday, the last day of Celebrate Reading Week, students and teachers participated in the Word Parade, where they hung a word on a tag around their necks, which represented their favorite word. Everyone had a wonderful time learning new words and “exchanging” them with one another.
