High school: Economics Department Faculty’s meeting

The Economics Department held a meeting in Room 211 of the Xianmian Building on March 15th. During the meeting, some final arrangements of the Economics week which will be held in two weeks time were settled. Later, the foreign teacher Andrew briefly introduced of the new PBL course that will be offered next semester. This will be an interdisciplinary course that will combine Economics, Business and Psychology and will discuss their interrelationship. This may include the impact of psychology on people’s spending patterns and leadership types, behavioral economics, and psychology in people’s investment strategies in the world of finance. This new course will bring students the experience of combining knowledge from different subjects and using these skills to analyze and solve practical problems. After that, the teachers shared their teaching experiences, and various problems they encountered. The new teacher who joined this semester has found monitoring the class a little difficult. IB course teachers found that most students lack the ability to apply what they have learned in practice, and they suggested that more case analysis could be included in the teaching of lower grade students. The teachers also discussed the proper teaching methods for revision classes and shared tips on how to carry out these classes.
