Grade 12: PI Day
Grade 12: PI Day
On March 14th, SHSID’s Senior High School held ‘Pi Day’ across Grade 11-12. For this year, the variety of activities had greatly increased. New activities such as Cosplay, Visual Art, Decryption, Sudoku, Match and etc added a lot of color to this year’s Pi day and granted opportunities for our students to appreciate the beauty of math.
Pi day’s Math class was all about Math games. Students could look for number cards hidden everywhere by the Math teachers. This ‘hunt’ was primarily for the ‘314 Pi Quest’. Students used the number cards they found to try to calculate the number 314. Assembling this number win the challengers points, and combined with points from other games, they could win the final prize.
For Math class, the students threw themselves into the world of PI through various fun activities. There were Math-related activities in different classrooms. Students could gather points as they completed the activities. Many activities incorporated complicated mathematical concepts in the form of a game and drew in many players.
This Pi day was a great way to introduce the seemingly complicated mathematical concept of Pi to students who are often not interested in Math. Pi Day is an SHSID tradition, and the students know it. Many of them wish that there will be even more attractive events, games, and prizes next year.
