High School Pi Day

On March 14th, the high school students and teachers of the International Division celebrated πday with various Math games! The activities for G11-12 took place across two morning Math periods. During the Fun Math game, our students rushed to different questions hanging in the classrooms, and tried their best to solve them with all their Math knowledge. In the 314 game, students searched the Xianmian Building for number cards and racked their brains to get the number 3141 by conducting four basic arithmetic operations together with some advanced operations such as factorial, combination and permutation equations. There were other interesting games such as 24-point, Sudoku and Deciphering. The G9-10 students were tested on their accumulation of Math knowledge and quick reactions during lunch break, in the game ‘Stay to the End’. Only 20 seconds were allowed for each question. After beating many opponents, the finalists handled the challenges from their Math teachers with ease. The students managed to win many points and awards in the games using their wisdom and passion for Math. It was great fun, and hopefully all students have learnt a lot from the games.

Besides the games, our students created individual art work themed around ‘The Beauty of Math’ and cosplayed some of the great mathematicians in history. Stay tuned for more about it!
