Grades 11-12:The Opening Ceremony

On the afternoon of February 23rd, the opening ceremony of Grade 11&12 for the second semester of the 2017 academic year was held in the auditorium. Two videos started the opening ceremony. The first one was brought by Media Group in the form of a news report. The second video was created by the IT community. Both summarized past activities and welcomed students back to school for an enjoyable new semester. Director Liu presented the first speech by defining happiness and pointing out differences between short term happiness and eternal happiness. In addition, she reminded everyone that that ‘happiness is achieved through hard work’. She also set goals for the new semester, such as expecting the students to be responsible for themselves. Next, the senior head teacher Ms. Gu expressed her hope that the senior students will cherish the rest of their high school life. Ms. Wu, the junior head teacher, advised juniors to be able to make consistent reflections to achieve great accomplishments.

Afterwards, student representatives from both grades shared their own experiences with the crowd. Shin Dong Ju from 12(1) commented on the endless possibilities after the end of high school. Kristie from 11(1) emphasized the change from ‘what I want to do’ to ‘what I should do’. Class 11 (2)’s Kitetsu expressed that everyone should have confidence in oneself, hoping his fellow students can ‘come up with something that is unique’ in the new semester. Joel from 12 (2) used a personal anecdote to tell the audience to explore various activities and subject areas in order to explore one’s own specialties. The opening ceremony ended with Director Liu announcing the Excellent Ethos class awards.
