Grade 11：Essay workshop

On the morning of January 19th, the Xianmian Building Annex was filled with eager students. They were there for the precious opportunity to listen to two college admission officers share advice on writing college application essays.

The sharing session is divided into three parts: one that focuses on the Personal Statement, one that focuses on the essays of the University of California, and the last one which focuses on the supplement essays. From their own angles, the admission officers shared the points that they are looking for in essays– such as the human side of students alongside their academic strengths. Further down the line, the admission officers also revealed the dos and don't of respective essays, one by one. But the officers were not the only ones talking– during the session, the students also answered the questions proposed by the officers and elaborated on them using their own knowledge.

For we students, it was such a rare and great opportunity to receive advice from the receiving end of the college application process. Looking to the future, we really hope for more such sharing sessions which can offer diverse advice on college applications, from alternative perspectives!
