Biology Group: PBL Course Project Exhibition in Grades 9 and 10
Biology Group: PBL Course Project Exhibition in Grades 9 and 10
The SHSID Biology group launched its PBL courses for the first time during this semester. The students have since learnt lots of professional knowledge and operational skills, and demonstrated tremendous fascination with Biology. Recently, the final project patterns- for example posters, experimental image analysis, and scientific papers- have been put on exhibit in the Zhongxing building.
The Biology PBL involved dynamic study of human population, soil bacterial DNA extraction, and the relationship between human reactions and exercises. Students in Grade 9 chose to study a genetic disorder from a list including Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and color blindness, and presented its pathogeny, symptoms, and morbidity in the form of a poster. Students in Grade 10 extracted DNA from soil bacteria and got images from a PCR. In the human exercise course, all students have individually completed a scientific paper by comparing human reaction speeds before and after sports.
Next semester, the Biology group will keep these courses running and improve more to provide an excellent practicing environment for all students.
