Grades 11-12：First Aid Training

On January 4th, in order to raise awareness regarding the importance of First Aid, SHSID invited its fellow students to provide guidance to the class representatives of the 11th and 12th grade classes.

To begin with, what exactly is First Aid and why is First Aid an important skill for us to master? Well, First aid is the assistance given to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury. To put the idea into a simpler term, First Aid is basically the same as saving people’s lives. However, as we learned from the presentation given by fellow students, only about 5% of the Chinese population know First Aid. Through this event, the class representatives learned the basics of First Aid, including how to fix fractured body parts, and how to perform CPR. The student speakers came prepared

with a mannequin for practice and to further develop the skills necessary as a First Aid rescuer.

Thanks to this event, SHSID is able to spread the understanding and influence of First Aid to more of its students, and by doing so, someday in the future these skills can hopefully be applied in a real life situation to save someone’s life.
