Puxi Grade 5: Career Day Visit - Teijin Institute

Class 5(6)’a students had a career day visit on December 21st. On the school bus, we were looking forward to having a lot of fun in Teijin, the world's second largest aramid, carbon fiber, and PC institute. In half an hour, we got there and were treated as VIPs.

The staff there showed us a lot, like the special scissors to cut the aramid, the suction cap not only removing dust, but also making cool hair, and the aramid filament in the microscope. At last, they showed us how to test the hardness of the aramid.

We learned that Aramid yarn can be used in bulletproof helmets, conveyor belts, special paper, ropes, cables, pipe, fiber optical fiber, flame retardant protective clothing, engineering materials, flexible pipe, sealing material, friction material, flexible reinforced material, cutting materials, civil engineering materials, tires, and composite materials.

The students also asked interesting questions such as: what are the uses of aramid silk? How does air pressure break the aramid? How can you break the aramid silk, and can you use your teeth to break the aramid wire? Our classmate Jake really tried it. Crazy lad.

In the end, Mr. Zhu gave each of us an aramid multi-purpose storage tank with a slot for an iPhone or an iPad.

It was a great visit. We hope we can go there again next time.
