The ‘Voice from Beyond’ Service Learning Team Deliver Some Happiness

‘Voice from Beyond’ was established by Yangyang Hua from 8(8). Yangyang loves singing and musicals, so she decided to combine her interests with service learning. This great idea was supported by many other students, so they formed the group called ‘Voice from Beyond’ to deliver happiness through singing.

On November 17th, ‘Voice From Beyond’ collaborated with the ‘Music For Patients’ service learning team and gave a spectacular performance at the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center. They sang two songs, ‘Seasons of Love’ and ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, which they hoped could bring some cheer to the patients. The patients crowded around the stage, and seemed to enjoy the performance very much.

The second performance was on November 25th, at the Liuhaisu Art Museum. They collaborated with the Liuhaisu Art Museum SHSID service learning team. They sang ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, and danced to an original piece of choreography. Together, they brought to the audience another enjoyable performance.

On December 29th, ‘Voice from Beyond’ held a charity concert at our school’s box theatre. With the help from the ‘Banana Heads’ service learning team, they sold tickets for the concert and raised 5900 RMB for the Shanghai Healing Home. After the charity concert, everyone’s celebrated the performance that they successfully put up. Throughout the process, they went through trouble and fun together. After doing homework, they had to make time to rehearse and practice.

Yangyang shared some reflections after the concert. Here they are:

“Thinking back, I still can’t imagine how I managed to make this wild thought into reality. Initially, it was just a random idea that suddenly popped into my mind, but at last, we really did it after hours of practicing and everybody’s help. I would like to thank everyone for their support. ‘Voices from Beyond’ will continue to spread happiness and love to everyone.
