Long Museum Service Learning Team, at it Again!
Long Museum Service Learning Team, at it Again!
From the start of the Christmas holiday, every student that had attended training for the Long Museum Service Learning would serve as a real exhibition guide. On December 17th, the students received training at the Shanghai Long Museum to serve as volunteer guides for the exhibition entitled ‘ The Dutch Golden Age; Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Halse’. In the following two weeks, every student didextensive research, and carefully prepared a speech.
Because the exhibition was on Basement Level 1, there was no one to advertise the volunteers. They had to go find the customers ourselves. Finally, after a while of struggle and mental preparation, they set off to find some visitors.
The tour finally began. As the exhibition guides, the students spent hours remembering all the background stories behind each painting. Some students chose to cooperate with others, while others chose to do everything on their own. After 2 hours of doing speeches and fixing them consistently, everyone had presented amazingly to all the gallery’s visitors. Through this activity, the students not only learned a lot about art, but also became better at expressing themselves, especially in front of strangers.
