Grades 9-10:Art Festival
Grades 9-10:Art Festival
On the morning of December 20th, the freshmen and sophomores held their Art Festival in the main auditorium of SHSID.
After a brilliant introduction by the eight hosts, the Art Festival was kicked into action by an exciting performance from SHSID’s wind band, preforming ‘Tumaco’. During the festival, students and teachers brought us a wide variety of performances. One standout was ‘HuYan’, performed by the Longyin club, which specializes in traditional Chinese culture. Another highlight was a fashion show performed by an army of stylishly dressed teachers, which drew forth impressed shouts from the audience. When asked about her favorite performance, Felicia from class 10(8) answered ‘HuYan’ without hesitation. She told us, “I liked HuYan for their sweeping moves with their flowing sleeves, and their handsome sword displays!”
During the Art Festival, there were three lucky draws involving prizes such as cheesecakes and free yearbooks. Improving upon last year, the number of prizes, as well as the ways in which they were distributed increased and became more diverse. For example while the first round of lucky draw conformed to the traditional way where Ms.Yu and Ms. Zhang randomly picked from student’s yearbook photos that were flashing across the screen; the second round of lucky draw involved a huge-scale bingo game in which Director Liu randomly read out keywords. In the final round of the lucky draw, the shouts from the audience grew steadily more
excited as a huge air-filled ball was passed and knocked around in the auditorium. Beautiful prizes were determined every time calls of “stop!” came from Principal Ma. All in all, this year’s art festival achieved great success, not only keeping up with the quality of performances and incorporating a wide range of cultural styles, but also expanding and improving upon previous years in fields such as the Christmas Prize Lucky Draw.
