Grades 7-8: Art Festival
Grades 7-8: Art Festival
On a cold yet beautiful winter afternoon of December 21st, the 7th and 8th graders held their Art Festival in the Grand Auditorium.
The Wind Ensemble opened the show with ‘Tumaco’, followed by some remarkable singing, dancing, string groups, piano performances, bands, and drama shows. Besides all that, there was even some Yoyo-ing and a Rubik’s cube competition. There were several singing performances with varying styles, including group singings, duets, Acappella, solos, and raps. A total of six dancing performances, varying from popular dance to ballet, brought multiple climaxes throughout the show. One group of eighth graders even dressed up as adorable animals for their dance! One of themost popular dancing shows was from SPDC– our school’s popular dancing club. It not only brought cheers from the crowd, but also marked the closure of the Art Festival.
The performers on the stage were all very talented: on their instruments, in their vocals, and all across the various performing arts. They practiced very hard in order to give it their all in front of their teachers and classmates.
While we cherish our memories of the wonderful show, I also want to mention the ASB team who took on many roles to make this show successful: from the backstage, they were in charge of the stage-lights, the curtains, the microphones, and the props; to on stage, where they were Santa Claus, a snowman, a reindeer, an elf, lucky draw box carriers, and gift distributers. The entire ASB team even sang “Jingle Bell Rock”.
Last but not least, many teachers dedicated a tremendous amount of their personal time on regular training and rehearsal. The show wouldn’t have been this successful without them. Our school director, Mr. Ni, provided full support for the show both financially and personally. In fact, many students received great Christmas gifts from him, and we all really enjoyed his swish-swish dance, performed right on the stage!
All of us spent one of our best afternoons at school, and it left us with a great memory of our middle school lives!
