Grades 7&8: Fantastic Art Festival 2017

From the morning of December 21st, everyone became quite excited. The audience were excited due to the amazing performances that were to be presented to them in the afternoon, and the performers were also excited to show everyone their talents off in the show that they had spent so much time and effort on preparing, for months and months. However there was also a feeling of nervousness for the performers– they were concerned about whether their performances would be successful. This year, our art festival was comprised of mostly individual performances, so the students worked extra hard, practiced even more, and definitely took the performances more seriously.

This year, many students bought glow sticks and turned on their flashlights, and waved them along with the music to show support to the performers. In fact it actually helped many performers to build up their confidence. Little by little, their warm smiles broke apart their worried faces, and their nervousness and anxiety turned into enjoyment and happiness to be on stage. After every brilliant show, the audience cheered and clapped for the performers. This is the time where both the audience and the performers are the happiest.

Our responsible ASB members from 7th and 8th grade also put a lot of commitment into preparing and planning the art festival. They worked carefully and conscientiously to help run the show smoothly, making sure backstage was in order, running to find the next performers, controlling the lighting and curtains, helping with the props, etc. All the ASB members worked hard to put forward an amazing show for all the students and teachers to enjoy. Although many ASB members also had their own performances, they tried to balance both sides, making the most of their capabilities to help as much as possible.

The art festival blocked out the winter cold, and filled every student with cheer and laughter. All teachers and students relaxed during this time and focused only on the performances and nothing else. Away from worrying about the monthly tests, away from thinking about scores and GPA rankings. There’s no way better thing to do than staying with your friends and watching the wonderful shows to celebrate Christmas.
