Grades 9-10: Zhongxing Dedicated to Excellence
Grades 9-10: Zhongxing Dedicated to Excellence
On Monday, December 18th, the 9-10 teachers’ meeting led by Director of Grade 9-10, Ms Liu Ming, and Josh Pickart continued to dive into the ideas of interdisciplinary learning, and the teachers seemed to have come one step closer to making the project’s goal a reality for their students.
Chris Hodachok was the first to speak. He led the teachers in a recap of the last directors’ meeting while offering valuable suggestions and points for consideration, drawing from his TOK teaching experience. He again stressed that any undertakings need to offer educational and personal benefits for the students in order to prevent valuable time being wasted for teachers and students alike. After Chris, Max Slonim talked about his plans for a pilot project for the second semester in Grades 9 & 10. He will be heading up a team of teachers across the subjects to establish and test out an interdisciplinary project for a select group of students next semester.
The aim of this is to create a more solid framework that can be implemented for the entire 9/10 student body; perhaps as soon as next school year. The support from the teachers was incredible and a large percentage agreed to help be a part of this pilot project. Once again, the staff and leadership of Zhongxing are striving to lead the way by creating opportunities for the students and teachers at SHSID to achieve greater levels of excellence.
