Puxi Grade 4: Graphing Project

This month, the fourth graders learned about different kinds of graphs, such as line plots, bar graphs, line graphs, and pictographs. To give the children a better understanding of what they learned in class, the teacher assigned an interesting graphing project. It went something like this:The population of Mathville was declining and the citizens were, to put it simply, puzzled. They lived in a perfectly pleasant place. Everything was marvelous. They had nice weather. They had a great baseball team. They even had an ice cream store. Something had to be done! A meeting was held and it was decided that they had to make a brochure immediately to try and persuade people to move to the marvelous Mathville. Students were required to apply different kinds of graphs to show data provided by teachers, and make and decorate the brochure. Some students turned in with amazing projects. One student used spaghetti and chocolate bars to represent data, by which the teachers were greatly impressed.

This math project not only offered students an opportunity to practice graphs, but also increased their hands-on skills. Let's look forward to next math project!(Written by Wang Tingqi Pictures by Wang Tingqi)
