Puxi Grade 5: Story Telling Competition

On December 7th’s CAS class, a story telling competition for Grade 5 and 6 was held in the auditorium. Every contestant had an excellent story to share with us. Each story was amazing, but two of them were very impressive.

Ashlyn from 5(1) told a story about a greedy girl who wanted to be the queen even though she didn’t deserve the crown. It was special because the main character Mudblack was actually an antagonist, a bad guy. In normal stories most of the main characters were protagonists. Ashlyn had a lot of energetic body movements and enthusiastic voice which made the audience felt like they were watching an alive play.

Elaine from 5(2)’s story was about a brave soldier named Dingy who used his intelligence and strength to kill an enormous dragon called Booey. Elaine was very creative. She made a unique name for each character and the events were

unpredictable. The audience loved the exciting climax of her story and the suspense built throughout. On the stage she took out her prop sword, pretending to be a brave knight, stabbing the sword onto the ground like she was fighting with the evil fire dragon.

There were 14 other stories. Some were entertaining, some were touching, some were terrifying and some were instructive. During the competition the audience really enjoyed the stories and cheered for the amazing performances on the stage.

The Story Telling Competition results are as follows:

S&S+

1st place 5(7) Ryan

2nd place 5(5) Steve

3rd place 5(3) Chloe

H&H+

1st place 5(1) Ashlyn

2nd place 5(2) Elaine

3rd place 5(7) Harrison 5(2) Kevin Lei

The story telling competition was a great success. Everyone had a wonderful time. The contestants also had some amazing experiences of their own. We are looking forward to even better performances next year!
