Grade 7: Rope Jumping Competition

On December 7th, a long rope jumping competition was held during afternoon CAS class. Participants included the 7th graders and teachers. Everyone tried to help their own class by practicing hard or cheering. The competition was very tense, as all classes were very competitive. At the same time, every classes exhibited great sportsmanship and even helped each other out by sharing advice. Before the competition, all the classes were seen discussing and practicing, and some tried to time themselves too. The atmosphere was highly exciting as this competition requires great skills, high concentration, team work and also the advice from homeroom teachers.

After a lot of hard work, the competition finally ended with class 7(4) in the lead. Class 7(4) achieved a great score of 150 jumps in 90 seconds. The runner-up, 7(9) finished close behind with 142 jumps, which is also a great score. After the competition, the entire grade showed terrific sportsmanship. No matter what the final scores were, this time will be a precious memory for all.

During the competition, every class went through many challenges. This competition was a big test of teamwork and skills. Throughout the practice, the classes spent a great deal of time discussing pace, as going too fast can cause tripping, while too slow can make it hard to get a better score. They also struggled in deciding which way to jump– whether with both feet or one foot, and also what position to take.

It was not very easy, but after trying a couple of times, each time finally reached to an agreement. The students learned to listen to each other with patience and take in everyone’s advice thoughtfully. They learned to give each other suggestions, without blaming or feeling blamed. Sometimes it was hard to stay positive, but with cheers from their classmates, every student made it at last. In the world of rope jumping, as long as you maintain positivity, team work, patience, participation, sportsmanship, and also try your best, you can do it!

Lastly, congratulations to the leading class, 7(4), and to the other classes, everyone did awesome!
