Grades 5-6: Successful Charity Fair
Grades 5-6: Successful Charity Fair
On Thanksgiving Day in 2017, SHSID held their 2017 Autumn Charity Fair. More than 600 people, including all the 5th and 6th grade students, teachers, and many parents gathered in the Local Dining Hall and the auditorium of the drama center, eager to help raise money for charity. There was a great variety of things sold including, but not limited to, slime, food, and drinks. The most popular item was slime, which was sold at more than 10 tables out of the 100 total tables. As for Charity Concert, all the awesome performances impressed every single member of the audience. The participants in the Charity Sports Meet tried their best at running, sit ups and short rope jumping were also passionate about charity.
Parents and students are all passionate about helping those students who are not as fortunate as we are. They devoted much time and money to prepare for the Charity Fair. Some spent days preparing homemade cookies, cupcakes, juice, ribs, and plants. Others even took the day off to show their support at the Charity Fair.
In the same spirit as the Charity Fair, some students showed their love for their families. A boy from 5th grade bought flowers and plants for his parents, and another one bought a cupcake for his sister.
Trust and honesty exist side by side. Han Su from 6(6) showed trust in his fellow students by putting popsicles in a giant cooler, and leaving it unattended. There was only a cardboard sign stuck in the cooler that said “the popsicles are ¥3 each. I trust you to put the money in the box”.
Thanks to the great effort from everyone, this Charity Fair was a huge success. We appreciate so much the time and energy they put in at the Charity Fair and Charity Concert, and we also appreciate those students who spent their money on the items to make this event a success.
