Puxi Grade 4: Chinese Character Contest

During Chinese class on November 13th, the students of the Native Chinese classes in Grade 4 had Chinese character contest, which aimed to see who recognize the most characters and write the most characters in a limited amount of time. 30 students distinguished themselves and got the chance to take part in a final contest on December 1st, which was watched by all the students in Grade 4.

There were three rounds in final competition. In the first round, all the participants needed to write certain characters. Anyone who made a mistake was eliminated. The students who survived made it to the second round and competed to be one of the six winners of this contest.

Finally, the following six students went all the way into the last round: Teng Hanqing from 4(1), Nie Mingxu and Wang Jiaqi from 4(4), Wang Weiduo and Zhang Hanjing from 4(5), and Wang Chengjia from 4(7).

The last round was more difficult. The students draw lots to decide their opponents first, and then answer questions. The atmosphere was very competitive and the excellent performance of these six students won thunderous applause from the audience. Nie Mingxu, Wang Jiaqi, and Wang Weiduo won the third prize, Teng Hanqing and Wang Chengjia won the second prize, and Zhang Hanjing from 4(5) won the first prize. The director of the primary section, Bao Guohong, awarded the certificates to the winners.

The students not only sensed the charm of Chinese characters in this contest, but also developed the good habit of recognizing and writing characters. They had a lot of fun in this contest! Let’s look forward to the next Chinese Character Contest!
