6th Grade: Connect Five, Connect Us
6th Grade: Connect Five, Connect Us
The Connect Five of sixth grade drew to a successful close in November. It is traditionally played with Go pieces on a Go board. Players place the Go pieces in turns of their color on an empty intersection. The winner is the first player to form an unbroken chain of five stones horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The rules of the game sound easy, but it's not easy to play. A bunch of students entered for the game. The rule is simple: The winner shall win two games out of three.
The matches were stunning and moving. More than forty students participated in the competition. And students who didn't join in became the best cheering squad.
A lot of games were so impressive. In one match, two contestants, Bobby from 6(10) and Orien from 6(9) played really well. The two could not finish the game after 80 moves. Some people recommended a tie and some required the game to go on. The teacher decided to have one more game in order to determine
the winner. The last game between them was wonderful and exciting. Sometimes it took a few minutes for the player to make a move. All the audience could not stop giving them applause!
Friendly games were also held between six graders. Even teachers played with us for fun. Regardless of race, regardless of skin color, regardless of gender, we have one thing in common. We all love the same game, connect five!
