Pudong Grade 3: We Are Learning to be Thankful

During Personal Growth class on November 21st , the third graders had a special class to welcome Thanksgiving.

To combine Thanksgiving and the November’s core value “Speak with Good Purpose,” their teachers designed a special activity.

First, the teachers handed out vocabulary lists which included many positive adjectives that could be used to describe people. As a class, the students and teachers discussed the meanings of new vocabulary words. Next, students were asked to write their names on colored pieces of paper. Each students’ paper was

passed around the whole class so that every student could get the chance to pick an adjective from the list to describe other students.

While they were looking for the specific word to describe their classmates, they heard others’ perspective, and considered things about each other that they may not have thought of or realized before. Therefore, in today’s PG class, it was a great chance to find others’ strengths and think about how special each member of the class is. Discovering each other’s positive traits motivates students to be more grateful and thankful to others.
