8th Grade Service Learning Team--TBLF
8th Grade Service Learning Team--TBLF
Have you ever been embarrassed to discover that your textbook has vanished into thin air? The teacher has already come into the classroom, so what are you supposed to do? This is one of the biggest problems among SHSID’s Middle School students. It makes me consider what to do to help these students. The solution I reached was to set up a service learning group to help these students to find textbooks.
Every Monday my 5 friends and I will stay after school, and go through every classroom in both eighth grade and seventh grade. We find books on the ground, in the lockers, on the tables, and inside teachers’ desks.
This group’s name is TBLF (Textbook Lost and Found). The group members are: Alicia 8(4), Hannah 8(5), Rachel 8(5), Jiwon 8(6), Seoyoung 8(8), and Ellie 8(10). After we gather all the books, we fill in a chart with the textbook owner’s name, the barcode number, the book’s title and the owner’s homeroom number. Then we put the chart into the folder attached with a poster. The poster is on the wall right next to teacher’s office. Then any students who lost their books will be able to find their books. For students’ convenience, our members will put the book on the book owner’s homeroom, right on the teacher’s table. In addition we put a post-it note on the book with the name and class so that teachers will be able to give those books back to the s tudents during P&B class.
If any of your textbooks are nowhere to be seen, just notify the TBLF members. You can get your book back again with our help.
