Grade 9: MFP Club “Thanks-Giving Charity Concert”

“With a heart of gratitude, thank you for giving me courage…"On the afternoon of November 17th, this familiar song was sung in the Outpatient Hall of Shanghai Children's Medical Center. This was the sound of another charity concert organized by the G9 Music for Patients (MFP) Club, and it is also the second charity concert held by the club this semester.

The concert began with a passionate trombone duet piece from Star Wars. For the first time, pieces payed by the clarinet trio and the string quartet were added into the program. In addition to the club’s BigFan and C&C singing groups, an Acappella group and voices from the Beyond Group also joined the performance. A fusion of classical and modern piano and stringed pieces, a female duet, and a female trio brought warmth to the children, their families, and the SCMC medical staff. The project was created by Kingsley Poon during his eighth grade, and this semester it is now one of several highly active students’ clubs in Grade 9. The number of members has increased to over 40, and there were 38 members from different grades participating in this particular concert. It is the largest charity concert organized by the club so far. Ms. Chen, the Director of SCMC Social Department, Mr. Ni, the Director of G8 of SHSID, and Ms. Shu, the Director of Public Relations Department of Parson’s Music Group, delivered warm speeches to all of these young musicians. As Kingsley said in his opening speech, "Music for a better life, a better world for all. We believe Music is Power. Let’s work together to create a better society and life." This is the purpose and direction of the MFP Club.
