Professional Development: Monitoring for Errors

On Friday (Nov. 17th), the foreign teachers of SHSID’s High School gathered for their weekly meeting to discuss not only the small matters of week-to-week teaching, but also professional development. Each week they have been reading on a particular theoretical aspect of teaching, and applying relevant practices to their classes. During the past week the area of practice had been “monitoring for errors”, which involves paying close attention to the class at an individual and collective level to make sure each student is making progress. Various teachers relayed the methods they had used to apply this theory in their classrooms. Overall the meeting was effective and to-the-point, with every teacher walking away the wiser.
