Pudong Grade 3: Science is Not That Hard!

On Tuesday, November the 14th, two presenters from the Dow Chemical Group gave the 3rd graders great presentations at the Pudong campus.

Dr Chen and Dr Guo presented chemical changes to students. By relating the content to our daily lives they explained the complex reasons behind these magical changes. First, the doctors asked about materials from the students’ daily lives, such as Mobike tires. Then they related them to the topic of ‘shrinking plastic’ so that the students were not afraid to learn something that initially sounded complex. Furthermore, they explained these topics through pictures and videos. All the students were focused on the topic, and asked lots of valuable questions. Finally, the presenters from Dow prepared experiments for the students to allow them the opportunity to experience science first hand.

Dr Chen and Dr Guo showed the students that science is always around us, and it’s not complex when you experience it for yourself. Being curious about ordinary things is one of the most important qualities of a scientist.
