Pudong Grade 3:D.E.A.R. Week

Are you ready for the D.E.A.R. week? D.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Every And Read”. 3rd graders on Pudong campus are asked to take a book to school, and when the bell rings, they must stop what they’re doing and read the book.

This is an activity to encourage students to read more books in their daily lives and to celebrate reading. During each school day of D.E.A.R. week, a bell will ring throughout the school at a “random” time, and that is the signal for students to start reading. Through this the students will do their bit to build a better reading culture throughout our whole school. They like reading for pleasure, to increase their vocabulary, and to gain knowledge.

3rd grade students enjoyed this activity a lot. They read quietly during the time and shared the fascinating stories with friends after the class.
