Sharing of study experiences from outstanding IB juniors
Sharing of study experiences from outstanding IB juniors
On November 2nd, Audney Guo and James Duan from 11(1)A arrived at ZXB127 to share their study experiences with lowerclassman and answer questions regarding junior year academics and extracurriculars.
The two upperclassmen discussed their personal experiences in aspects such as course choosing, time management, study habits, and having routine lifestyles.
Time management was the topic most looked forward to. As an IB student and a core member of the school basketball varsity, James introduced his method on balancing his extracurriculars and academics. He only participates in two extracurriculars: basketball varsity and interact club. James devotes immense amounts of effort and passion to these two activities. He believes in having few extracurriculars but maintaining them at utmost quality, which also allows for easier time management. James’s advice to the lowerclassmen is to explore and discover their hobbies. Due to his digging in his two years as a freshman and sophomore, James already has a general direction in place for his future in college.
Both Audney and James emphasized the necessity to raise productivity to ensure enough sleep: try to sleep before eleven every night to enhance the absorption of knowledge at school. Discussing the enigma of the masses—procrastination—our two speakers provided a few tips: effectively utilize your weekends and holidays, review materials and notes from school every day, and avoid any last-minute procrastination etc.
Towards the end, the audience enthusiastically bombarded the speakers with questions, which were all answered in detail. The lecture wrapped up with enthusiastic ovation.
