Puxi Primary Section: The Charity Fair is Coming!
Puxi Primary Section: The Charity Fair is Coming!
Every semester, the Puxi Primary Section holds a Charity Fair and donates the money earned to various charitable organisations. November 2nd is the 'big day' this semester, and all the preparations are in full swing.
It is the first time for the first graders to take part in the Charity Fair. All their parents were full of enthusiasm to help prepare. The first graders also did a lot to help out. Some kids were stall supervisor, while others even helped parents make products like soap at home. They also leaned about the Shanghai Healing Home, where they will donate the money raised this time. When they saw the Home's abandoned children, they were more determined to help others.
In PG class on October 26th, Professor Zha- one of the founders of the "I-fly" Rural Teachers Training Project- and Ms. Wang Jian, a parent from class 2(6), shared with all the second graders their experiences and stories about helping teachers and students in undeveloped areas of China. They showed the students photos and videos to help them understand how their kindness can bring change for children who need help.
Our third and fourth graders are more experienced with Charity Fairs, and they were willing to do something on their own to help parents before the Charity Fair began. Their parents also did a lot, such as preselling goods via Wechat and other online platforms.
Primary Section also did a Charity Drive to collect a lot of second hand clothes, books and toys to donate to the Shanghai Healing Home.
In SHSID's Primary Section, we are going to cultivate responsible global citizens. Charity Fairs are one of the ways to help students cultivate their ability to help others and realize their responsibility for the world.
