Puxi Grade 1-4: Using Beautiful Butterflies to Learn About Science

A Butterfly Exhibition by the Shanghai Insect Museum was on display in SHSID from October 23rd to the 27th. Specimens of many different kinds of butterfly were on display in the Primary School lobby. They brought more than 40 butterfly specimens and more than 10 butterfly information boards. Every butterfly was specially taken care of. Their antennae and scales were all clear to see. Many of species are enlisted as protected species in China. During break time, the butterfly species are laid elegantly in the glass box. Students looked at them with curiously. They read the introduction of each species, and imagined how these creatures might look flitting through the air.

The students also learned to make their own butterfly specimens in science class. They carefully touched the soft butterflies and pasted them onto a background.

This scientific activity brought not only beauty, but also scientific knowledge. We believe that the students learned a lot!
