A Meaningful PD Day for the Primary Section: Psychological lecture and iMovie making training!

On Oct. 13th, SHSID Puxi and Pudong primary section teachers sat together and had meaningful PD day training. Listening to the psychological lecture and attending the iMovie training were closely related to our goals for professional development.

In the morning, professional HR Ms. Le Yi was invited in to give a psychological lecture, which was made up of three main parts. The first part was a game, which prompted the teachers to discuss an issue in groups. The issue was: If you bring five types of animals (tiger, elephant, dog, monkey, and peacock) with you through the jungle, which one would you give up first when you are in danger? Heated discussions were carried out within groups. Some groups reached a consensus, while others could not.

In the second part, Ms. Le listed problems teachers might face in our day-to-day communications. She talked about elements affecting efficient communication, such as people’s preferences, differences between personalities, communication skills, and body language.

In part three, the teachers completed a professional personality test (DISC), which analyzed each person’s personality characteristics during work hours. Through the results of this test, teachers were not only able to get to know themselves better, but also their colleagues around them.

In the afternoon, the teachers went to the Apple store and received Apple education training for iMovie. The trainer taught many useful ways to use this app to make movies and also allowed the teachers to be the directors, using movies to tell stories. The skills that were absorbed will also make teaching using iMovie more convenient.

Personal development day stimulated internal thoughts and external skills. It also helped us get to know our colleagues and ourselves better. What a meaningful training day!
